CONSTRUCTION

The hull is a heavy duty hand laid GRP moulding in accordance with Northshore’s Nordseal laminate specification, which includes a clear gel coat underwater. The cast iron ballast is encapsulated in the GRP keel and glassed over with further laminates to form an integral part of the hull structure.

The deck is a heavy duty hand laid GRP moulding. Balsa stiffening is incorporated in all horizontal areas with plywood infills in way of the deck fittings. Heavily stressed areas are additionally reinforced with unidirectional glass reinforcement. The deck is bonded to the hull laminate and bolted together throughout the whole hull to deck joint. The bulkheads are laminated to the deck as well as the hull resulting in a strong and integrated unit.

The cockpit is an integral part of the GRP deck moulding it is self draining through two 38mm bore drains with valves at the hull. A hatch is fitted in the seat top aft to give access to stowage lockers and the steering gear. A separate, drained gas locker is integral in the moulding in the starboard side of the seat. Heavy double skin GRP bulwarks, incorporating the hull to deck joint, are an integral part of the deck and capped with 25mm thick teak. A teak rubbing strake and teak bulwark cladding is fitted.

The hull and deck are moulded in the owner’s choice of colour from Northshore’s standard range.

ENGINE

A Yanmar 3GM 30F 27 h.p. cylinder marine diesel complete with 3.2:1 reduction gearbox is fitted. The engine is freshwater cooled and fitted with a water cooled exhaust with water lock type silencer. The engine is mounted on rubber anti-vibration mounts secured to a steel reinforced GRP engine bed, which is bonded to the hull. A bronze stern tube with water lubricated cutlass bearing is fitted carrying a 1 inch diameter stainless steel shaft driving a 3 bladed bronze propeller. A zinc sacrificial anode is fitted to reduce stern gear corrosion. The engine is situated below the wheelhouse with access via lifting hatches in the wheelhouse sole. The engine space is soundproofed.

STEERING GEAR

Wheel steering from the wheelhouse is linked to the rudder by a rotary cable system. A removable varnished teak tiller can be fitted in the cockpit and the wheel steering system linkage quickly disconnected for light tiller steering. The rudder is a GRP moulding with bronze pintles and stainless steel tiller hood.

TANKS

Diesel fuel: A single stainless steel tank complete with baffles of approximately 182 litres (40 gallons) is installed below the cockpit sole. An electric fuel contents gauge is fitted in the instrument panel. The tank is vented overboard.

Fresh Water: One flexible tank approximately 182 litres (40 gallons) is installed under the forward bunk.

PLUMBING

Cold water is supplied by a pressure system to taps at the galley sink and the toilet basin. A manual bilge pump is fitted in the aft cockpit locker and is piped from the bilge sump to a hull discharge fitting. All through hull fittings are bronze and where below the waterline have seacocks or ball valves fitted.

ELECTRICS

The two heavy duty 12 volt batteries are fitted with isolator switches. They are stowed in a sealed battery box in the port side of the engine room. One battery is for engine starting and the other for domestic systems. The batteries are charged from the 55 amp/hr engine driven alternator. The wiring loom is colour coded and all circuits are fully protected and controlled by circuit breakers on the main panel mounted on the steering console.

Cabin lighting is provided throughout the accommodation as follows:– Two berth lights in the forecabin; one overhead  light in the toilet; two overhead lights in the saloon; one chart table light; one overhead light in the wheelhouse.

Navigation lights are fitted as follows:– P & S navigation lights fitted in teak shield boxes on wheelhouse; stern light fitted on the pushpit; masthead tri-colour/all round white light; steaming light and deck flood light.

DECK FITTING

The following are fitted:–

Stainless steel pulpit, pushpit and 6 stanchions with stainless steel wire (plastic sheathed) lifelines. Heavy duty stainless steel stem head fitting incorporates forestay and headsail attachment points and anchor roller in which the anchor will stow. Large mooring cleat on foredeck in specially reinforced area, two mooring cleats forward with fairleads and two large bollards aft. Through-bolted headsail tracks on coaming.

Two Lewmar 8 sheet winches at cockpit. 6.8kg (25Ib) CQR anchor with 30metres 8mm calibrated chain with hawse pipe to chain locker. All working areas including those on the wheelhouse roof are covered with Treadmaster non-slip surface.

Teak fore and aft handrails on wheelhouse roof. Clear Perspex wheelhouse skylight (with optional slide opening panel). Two dorade ventilators and three vents. Water filler in starboard side deck and fuel filler in aft cockpit seat to port.

SPARS

The ketch rig is standard with a no additional cost option of sloop rig, if preferred. The spars are silver anodised aluminium alloy with stainless steel and alloy fittings. Lewmar main and genoa halyard and mainsail reefing winches are fitted. The mainsail is equipped with two slab reefing points.

SAILS AND RIGGING

The standing rigging is 1 x 19 stainless steel wire with stainless bottle screws. Running rigging of pre-stretched braidline.

Mainsail, mizzen and genoa halyards
Mainsail, mizzen and genoa sheets
Topping lifts
Kicking strap
Burgee halyard and signal halyards
A Furlex or equivalent genoa reefing system
Mainsail, mizzen and reefing genoa in tan or white Terylene sailcloth
Sail covers for mainsail and mizzen

WINDOWS AND PORTLIGHTS

Window frames and portlights are anodised aluminium alloy, glazed with toughened glass.

The following are fitted:–

Wheelhouse: 6 fixed windows, 2 opening (middle forward and aft)
Saloon: 4 opening portlights
Toilet: 1 opening portlight
Forecabin: 1 Lewmar opening hatch

ACCOMMODATION

GENERAL

All interior joinery is of solid teak or teak veneered plywood. The galley and toilet surfaces are in co-ordinated Formica type laminates. Overhead linings are vinyl upholstered plywood panels in the cabins and GRP in the wheelhouse which are detachable for access and the hull side and hanging lockers linings are of foam backed matching vinyl.

All cushions are upholstered in colour co-ordinated high grade fire retardant fabrics from Northshore’s range. Curtains are fitted in the saloon.

Teak and holly plydeck is fitted to the cabin sole and Treadmaster on the wheelhouse sole.

FORECABIN

There are two full length single berths with storage lockers beneath at the aft end. The chain locker is forward with a trap to access from the cabin. The deck hatch provides an emergency escape to the foredeck. There are fixed ports on each side of hull. A folding door closes the cabin from the saloon.

TOILET

The separate toilet compartment is to port and is equipped with a marine toilet and a folding washbasin. The bulkheads are laminate covered and a mirror and overhead ventilator are fitted. The folding teak door opens to enclose the passage opposite to maximise the size of the toilet when in use. A wardrobe is fitted opposite the toilet compartment, which has a teak door with louvered vents.

MAIN SALOON

An ‘L’ shape settee is to port with lockers under and shelving outboard. There is additional stowage behind the settee backs. The teak saloon table stows against the aft bulkhead and converts the settee to a double berth if required. A full length quarter berth is located to starboard.

GALLEY

The galley is to starboard in the saloon and is fitted with a stainless steel sink unit, with cold water tap. A gimballed cooker with 2 burners, grill and oven with failsafe on all burners is fitted with a safety gas shut off valve adjacent to the cooker. The insulated icebox is under the forward end of the quarter berth, which can be refrigerated at extra cost if required. There is plenty of crockery storage and lockers for food and other items. The working surfaces are laminate covered with teak fiddle rails. An extension to the work surface can be hinged up from the quarter berth bulkhead. An overhead vent is fitted.

WHEELHOUSE

The steering position is on port side with a folding helmsman’s seat. The instrument console, which has a Perspex cover, is fitted ahead of the teak wheel. The area forward of the wheel can be used as a chart area. A windscreen wiper is fitted to the window ahead of the helm position. There is a deep sail bin outboard to port under the sidedeck. A fore and aft seat is fitted to starboard with a stowage locker and separate chart stowage underneath. A sliding door gives access to the cockpit.

In addition to items mentioned in the specification the yacht is complete with the following:–

The exterior teak is finished in varnish and the boot top is in coloured gel coat. The underwater sections are antifouled.

The yacht is handed over afloat and in commission at Itchenor. The Fisher 25 is built to conform to CE category A
